Night
The protagonist of this story would be Elie Wiesel since the story is about him and how he overcame the camps where he was sent since he was Jewish. It starts off with him trying to find his own God and trying to find a mentor but his father wont let him because hes too young. He becomes friends with a poor person named Moishe the Beadle. He be-friends him and learns many things from him. Moishe the Beadle is sent away to a camp where he was sent to be killed because he was a foreign Jew that didnt belong in the community where the young Elie is living. Moishe returns and tells of the the horrors he lived but no one believes him and he is called mad he comes back to the town to warn them of what will happen to them but still no one believes him. The German soldiers come to visit and they feel no threat from them but soon it changes and they are being forced to follow all these rules and it all goes bad from there. They soon are being told to prepare because they will be sent away. They soon start walking to their destination. I found the beginning of this story to be interesting because its about a big event that happened in life that changed millions of peoples lives and i enjoy reading bout it because all the pain they had to go through is unimaginable. People who came to this camps were strong and Im looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky
The protagonist of this story would be Jack Potter and the anatagonist would be him being married. I believe the antagonist would be him getting married because hes a marshall and hes afraid of what the towns people will say about it. Hes self-conscious about it and keeps thinking of the worse and what will happen once the towns people find out hes married. I believe the setting would be an old town in Texas. The time would be back in the western days where they all wore cowboy hats and boots and evryone rode a horse. Thye point of view would be stream of consciousness but in third person. Jack Potter getting married seems to be like its the worst thing hes ever done and we dont know why. As the story is told throught the towns people hes a hero for fightig this guy named Scratchy. The towns people seem to think of Jack as a hero but he doesnt it and it makes you think that he might of done some badf things in the past that hes not proud of but that the towns people are. The theme of the story seems to be love can conquer anything because ones Jacks foe finds out hes married he backs off and doesnt pick a fight with him. It seems that his foe might even be happy for him or this could be a chance for them to end the fighting once and for all. Jack is ready to fight when he comes face to face with his foe and this shows that he isnt going to back down even though he doesnt carry a gun. Hes not going down without a fight and this shows that es not a coward and wont let anyone beat him.
I didnt enjoy this story as much i thought it was dull and plain. The denounment wasnt was i was expecting i was hopeing Jack would get shot in front of his bride so then it would be like a tragig love story but it ended kinda korny. I disliked this story it needed more action in my opinion.

The Found Boat
Eva and Carol are the two girls that hang around with the boys because of a boat they found. Eva seems to be the leader of the two, well not leader per say but whatever she does Carol follows right after. I would put them around the age of 12 thru 15. The way they hang around the boys and how they speak to each other it's almost as if they are young and naive. The story takes place in a small town where it seems all the families know each other and nothing bad could ever happen. It's one of tose small towns where everyone grew up with each other and knew other people's business. The time in which this story takes place would be in the 60's maybe 70's. I would say this because of the sense of how they talked to one another but then when Eva speaks to one of the boy's mom she was all respectful and polite. Eva and Carol are at the age where they want to explore and be free and dont care what other people think of them but yet in the same aspect they want the boys to like them because Eva and Carol tell the boys they found a boat. They want attention and are willing to get it no matter what. Eva and Carol are the protagonist of the story because they are the ones that the story begins with and ends. The point of view would be third person. When Eva and Carol get naked with the boys it shows how free spirited they are and it shows how young they are as well. Well more likely Eva because shes the on that gets naked first and Carol has doubts about it. When one of the boys spits water at Eva it shows how she took it as an offfense and it shows that she respects herself and isnt going to let a boy have his way with her. Although she is free spirited she is also respectful to herself and wont let anyone take advantage of her. When i read it again i had the sense that maybe it was the time when kids hit they're puberty stage and all these changes come about them, because at first Eva was ok with being naked and then when she gets water spit on her it feels as if she was almost ashamed of it. Maybe this story represents the transition from childhood to young adult hood.
I found this story to be odd at first but then it was interesting because it felt like i was reading about litle kids transitioning into young adults as if it only takes a blink of an eye for us to grow up. I think the boat they found was a metaphor for them find their way and fixing it was the metaphor for them deciding to make sure they found their way safely and they werent going to take any chances. I enjoyed this story and was amazed by how one can grow up so fast without realizing it.

A Rose for Emily
A Rose for Emily is written in stream of consciousness because it feels as we are seing the events unfold though another person perferebly through the eyes of an antagonist. The people of the town where Miss Emily lives would be the antagonist because they remark horrible things about Mis Emily and try to get in her business. Miss Emily would be the protagonist because the story is about her and it revolves around her life and what other people say and think about her. Miss Emily chooses to be lonely when her father is alive because I had the sense that maybe her father chased away all her want to be lovers. The setting is a small town and more likely it would be Miss Emilys house. Through out the story the towns people want to know what goes on in her house and it revolves around her and her house. The story takes plae through out time because the towns people coment on how she was young and beautiful but then shes getting older and grayer and stumpy. Not much is revealed about the character just that she keeps to herself and people describe her as somewhat insane because when her father died she didnt want to bury him and the towns people at first thought she was mad but then they labeled it as her grieving. The towns people also question her sanity because she wants to buy poison but wont tell the pharmacist what its for and they think shes gonna kill herself but she dosnt. Miss Emily finally has a lover but he soons disappears and people make this out to be as if Mis Emily cant be loved. Miss Emilys lover turns out to be dead and found in her upstairs room, the way I read the story was the towns people had the feeling that Miss Emily killed her lover and thatwould tie in with the poison she bought. I believe she bought the poison to kill herself but then didnt have a motive to use it anymore because love came into her life. When she knew her time was near she decided to kill her lover and so she wouldnt be alone when she crossed over to a better life. The Denouement showed that Miss Emily laid in bed with her lover before her time came as if saying I will join you soon.
I enjoyed this story very much I found it very interesting that I read it more than once. Miss Emily was the talk of the town and to me it made it seem like the towns peoples life was boring becaue they kept track of her through out her life. The towns people wanted some excitment in their lives so thats why they turned to Miss Emily's life to keep them occuppied for a long time. I thought the character Miss Emily was an interesting character because she didnt listen to what people said about her, she didnt care for people because she knew that they were just snooping around in her life so they could get some excitement out of it. I expected the ending to end like it did but it stil gave me goosebumps. It was a good story overall.

A Worn Path
The protagonist of this story is an older women named Phoenix Jackson. The protagonist is a very old women who is on a mission to get medicine for her grandson. She is caring of her grandson because she travels far to the city since they live out side of the city. Through out the story the protagonist describes her surroundings around her as she travels to the city. One can tell the woman is senile because she talks to herself and she walk with a cane. Her mind seems to be slipping because through out her journey she sees things that are not there. She talks to scarecrows and sees children with trays of cake. When she falls a getleman comes around and helps her out but for some reason through out their conversation he points a gun at but she is not scared and she doesnt back down. The gentleman says she must be really old if she isnt scared and she replies by saying she has seen worse and this would explain how old she really is. Once she gets to the city to get the medicine her mind starts slipping because the nurse speaks to her she doesnt speak and when she does she apologizes because she admits that her mind slipped for a split second. Phoenix Jackson is a careing grandma because she goes to the doctors to get her grandsons medice every week and she travels the same way. The antagonist of this story would be her old age because its starting to slow her down and her mind slipps and she wont be able to travel that long distant for long. This story is told in first person stream of consciousness at points.

Miss Brill
The persona in this short story is named Miss Brill and it talks about how Miss Brill goes out to the park on Sundays and enjoys a play that goes on. Miss Brill as the main persona talks about all the people she sees and how each one is unique in there own way and how she appreciates it. Miss Brill talks abut a fur coat that she has and i came to the conclusion that she only wears it when she goes out on Sundays. She expresses how happy it makes her feel when she wears it because it;s her thing to do and she enjoys it a lot. In the end she talks about how she hears someone crying and i came to the conclusion that it was here because at the park she comes accross these two lovers and how they cant say something in front of her and they start talking bad about her. She has a ritual that she does but she doesnt follow it through because she's hurt of what the two young lovers said about her. When she is at the park she realizes that all the people that show up are and including herself are part of the act because they show up and have a unique sense of style. I got the feeling that maybeshe wasnt going to go out on her Sunday outings because of what she heard from the two young lovers. In the end she talks about hhow she heard someone cry and i believe it was herself.

Nothing Gold Can Stay
I had trouble understanding this poem so I looked it up to see what it meant. I apologize for this but i read it ten times and i couldnt understand what Frost was telling us in his poem. Some people said it symbolized the cycle of life and i can see how then can think so. "Nature's first green is gold," I believe this would mean the beginning of a new life hence, the beginning of the world. "Her hardest hue to hold" would probbaly mean the difficulty of starting a new life or the starting of our world. "Her early leaf's a flower" could mean the first humans on earth. "But only so an hour" could mean the first humans wouldnt be alone for long and there could be more on the way. "So leaf subsides to leaf" could mean more humans are born and thus the first humans have more company or they have their own children. "So Eden sank to grief," now I couldn't decide on this part on what it meant but I think it would mean the gold in the nature has disappear because it has gone to green. "So dawn goes down to day" could mean as days pass, and "Nothing gold can stay" could mean the world isn't as gold as we think it is so nothing is the same. So all together I believe this poem means we come into this world alone and hoping life is all fairytales and thus it would be easy. As we grow up we meet people who will dissapoint us and thus we see that life and the world is not as easy as we thought it was.
